AMSTERDAM (16 May 2018) - Prologis, Inc., the global leader in logistics real estate, today announced that it has delivered a 28,000 square meter built-to-suit distribution facility DC5 for Pantos Logistics in Tilburg, at Industrial Park Vossenberg West II in Tilburg. The facility is part of a pilot program with the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) to develop a new standard for the health and well-being of personnel working in logistics distribution centers.
Development
The facility is leased to Korean logistics provider Pantos Logistics, a long-term Prologis customer. The agreement is part of a new development by Prologis in Tilburg, consisting of 90,000 square meters of logistics space. The Prologis Tilburg Park portfolio will comprise approximately 365,000 square meters.
Flexibility of scale
Mr Cho, managing director of Pantos Logistics Benelux: “We are an ambitious company and are growing fast. Prologis, our long-term partner, is able to accommodate this growth for us in Tilburg.”
WELL Building pilot
The distribution facility DC5 in Tilburg is part of a unique pilot with IWBI. In fact, Prologis aims to be one of the first logistics real estate developers in the world with a WELL Building Standard™ certificate. Bram Verhoeven, country manager, Prologis Benelux: “As a leading developer, we continually aim to raise the standard of our distribution facilities. We pay extra attention to aspects that improve the workplace environment, such as a smart ventilation system and green areas to refresh the indoor climate. But we also focus on incorporating features that provide more natural light and better acoustics, to create a pleasant atmosphere. The second development phase of 25,000 sqm, which is available to customers, will also benefit from these features.”
Better workplace environment
Arthur van Kooij, Head of Project Management Northern Europe Prologis, adds: “Using WELL features in our buildings may well prove a distinguishing factor in the process of recruiting logistics personnel. The WELL standard exists for office buildings, but not for logistics real estate. WELL offers us a structural, scientific approach to go beyond well-known sustainable standards like a BREEAM certification.”
Incorporating health and well-being into the building design is another example of Prologis’ long-term focus and innovative approach to environmental stewardship, social responsibility and governance (ESG), and of how it is fully integrated into the business strategy.
Prologis has been advised by Cushman & Wakefield.
Prologis is one of the leading providers of logistics real estate in the Benelux region, with approximately 2 million square meters of logistics and distribution space as of 31 March 2018.
