AMSTERDAM (7 November 2018) - Prologis, the global leader in logistics real estate, today announced the acquisition of a 51,000 square meter high-quality distribution facility at Moerdijk in the Netherlands. The building is fully leased to an international retailer.
Located in the logistics hotspot Port of Moerdijk, immediately adjacent to the deep sea and barge terminal, the building is fully leased to an existing Prologis customer. The building, DC6, was constructed in two stages: in 2000 and, more recently, an expansion in 2017. The older areas of the building (approximately 30,000 square meters) will be significantly refurbished with features such as LED lighting, a new façade and modern roofing for improved energy efficiency. The renovation is part of Prologis’ sustainable development strategy.
Prologis already owns five buildings at Prologis Park Moerdijk. With this acquisition, Prologis Park Moerdijk now comprises 202,000 square meters of state-of-the-art industrial space. Sander Breugelmans, vice president, Market Officer, Prologis Benelux, said: “Moerdijk and the wider Rotterdam area remain in great demand. We keep a close eye on build-to-suit development, but also on acquisition opportunities of existing properties located in strategic logistics hubs, especially when we can add additional value. We are therefore happy to acquire this building and offer our customers even more flexibility of scale in Moerdijk.”
Prologis European Logistics Fund (PELF) is the purchaser. Prologis was advised by XO Property Partners and Clifford Chance. Prologis is a leading provider of logistics real estate in the Benelux, with approximately 2 million square meters of logistics and distribution space as of September 30, 2018.
