It is our goal to create superior value for our customers and our partners with every logistics facility we develop. With our customers’ satisfaction in mind, we put innovation and sustainable development at the forefront of all that we do. We are always aware of the effect each of our buildings has on the environment. That’s why we set ourselves ambitious sustainability goals to reduce the impact of our facilities on the ecosystem and give something back.
Prologis’ 34,000 square meter build-to-suit distribution center for the Dutch retailer HEMA will help us achieve these sustainability goals. In cooperation with Sunrock, a large-scale independent solar developer in the Benelux, we are installing 9,000 solar panels with a maximum capacity of 3.0 megawatts peak on the roof of the facility. The photovoltaic system will deliver 2.4 megawatt hours per year, enough energy to power approximately 750 households.
“Our energy-efficient buildings help our customers make a difference”, said Roderik von Meyenfeldt, property manager Benelux. “We develop our facilities according to the latest sustainability standards with features such as LED lighting and increased isolation – and in the case of the facility for HEMA we are even producing energy. Not only do these measures help to reduce the environmental impact of our buildings, they also lower the operating costs and strengthen our relationship with eco-conscious customers such as HEMA.”
In Sunrock Prologis found a reliable and strong partner for this complex project. “Sunrock has the necessary know-how and understands that the relationship with the customer is very important for Prologis”, said Roderik von Meyenfeldt.
The high-quality logistics facility for HEMA is located at business park Het Klooster in Nieuwegein and will comply with the BREEAM ‘Very Good’ standard for sustainability performance. The distribution center will be completed in March 2020.
