Prologis gives back by working to strengthen the communities in which it operates, so its employees around the world collectively volunteer for a public cause during the company’s IMPACT Day. In the Netherlands, over 140 people from the Amsterdam office teamed up on 18 May with Sherpa, an organization that supports people with disabilities.
This was the second year Prologis had the pleasure of supporting Sherpa. With approximately 1,400 employees and 600 volunteers, Sherpa provides services to around 1,400 clients with intellectual and/or physical disabilities. Sherpa offers support in the areas of independent living, outpatient services and leisure activities, and offers various training courses.
One Prologis group took Sherpa clients to Amersfoort Zoo, which is about an hour from Amsterdam. Aside from participating in various programs to protect endangered animals, the zoo also makes for a wonderful excursion.
Closer to home, another group took Sherpa clients for a fun boat ride on the canals of Amsterdam.
The rest of the team helped out at various facilities run by Sherpa, doing gardening, painting and DIY tasks. Some did maintenance work at a Sherpa day care facility, such as painting buildings and repairing animal sheds. Others worked in the garden of another Sherpa facility, renovating outdoor furniture and laying a new path.
IMPACT Day brings to life Prologis’ core values of Integrity, Mentorship, Passion, Accountability, Courage and Teamwork (IMPACT). Going beyond IMPACT Day, Prologis employees in the Netherlands can get two extra days off, in order to volunteer for Sherpa or similar causes.
