Collecting data about what happens in and around the buildings will be an important part of the future of logistics real estate. As examples, Moghadam mentions sensors, which will calculate how many times a door can rise and fall before breaking, and drones, which will inspect roofs for damage.
With 1.3 trillion dollars of goods flowing through Prologis' facilities every year and more than 800,000 people are working under its roofs, Moghadam envisions a database tracking the movement of goods globally.
